STEPHANIE ROMAN
Managing Attorney
Stephanie A. Roman is the managing attorney and principal owner of Roman Law Firm P.C. Her practice focuses on commercial and residential real estate (in the areas of acquisition, disposition, development, and leasing matters), commercial lending and corporate finance, and general business law matters. She represents local, regional, and national clients with conventional purchase and sales transactions, negotiation of lease agreements and instruments affecting real property, retail and residential development, and lending transactions and business entity formations. Ms. Roman is affiliated with Texas Lone Star Title Company. On the corporate front, Ms. Roman provides guidance with mergers/acquisitions, asset sales, and debt collection matters. Finally, Ms. Roman provides individual clients with expertise regarding business entity formation, asset protection, employment agreements, estate planning as well as personal injury matters.
Ms. Roman served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Houston Bar
Association Real Estate Section in 2007-2008. She is a member of the Houston Bar
Association, State Bar of Texas, College of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas
College of Real Estate Attorneys. She served as a member of the Legislative Committee
for the Real Estate Division, of the Real Estate, Probate, and Trust Law Section, of the
State Bar of Texas for tracking legislation affecting real estate and construction law. She
has written articles and spoken at numerous continuing legal education seminars, both
locally and regionally, concerning various real estate matters.
Prior to founding Roman Law Firm, Ms. Roman was an associate with the Rapp Law
Firm, P.C. and Assistant Counsel in the legal department of Weingarten Realty
Investors, a Texas real estate investment trust. She also worked as General Counsel for
Shears/Delery Interests, Ltd., a national retail developer. She received her Juris
Doctorate degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas in 1995, and
obtained her Bachelor of Liberal Arts from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas in
1992.
MARLENE SCANLIN
Paralegal and Office Manager
Marlene Scanlin is the office manager and paralegal for Roman Law Firm, P.C. She has vast experience in all areas of the legal profession with primary focus on real estate law, including drafting lender documentation and business law for over 20 years. Marlene began her career as a secretary in the District Attorney’s office, was promoted to supervisor of the Grand Jury Division, and worked as a Court Coordinator for the criminal courts. She is also very knowledgeable in civil litigation, wills, probate and foreclosures.
DON THOMAS
Of Counsel
Mr. Thomas is a litigator who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the firm’s
array of clients with their personal injury, business law needs, and family law matters.
Over the years, he has appeared in many district court hearings throughout the State of
Texas. He is well-versed in discovery procedures, depositions, and mediations. He has
achieved impressive results for the firm’s clients through his advocacy.
James Jameson
Of Counsel
With over 35 years of legal experience representing high-caliber clientele and businesses, James B. Jameson specializes in legal counsel for financially distressed companies. He focuses on bankruptcy, financial restructuring, debtor and creditor rights, and commercial litigation. Jameson is well-versed in operational and strategic planning and has served as a Court-Appointed Receiver and Liquidating Trustee for numerous matters. He has conducted over 500 mediations with an impressive success rate and can handle disputes of any measure with effectiveness.
